I am having my first ever tag sale this weekend. I need to sell a lot of stuff and my neighbor is also participating.
Everything will be clean and organized. Everything will be priced to sell. Clothing will be hung up and clean.
We are putting the listing on craig’s list and we’ll have signs up at all the main intersections within a mile of our house (which is a lot of signs). The signs are bright with huge lettering.
Ok folks, as I’ve never done this before, what am I missing? If you’ve had a successful tag sale/garage sale/yard sale, I need your story and tips. Help. The sale is Saturday.

That seems about right.
Good luck.
Oh, Have big ass signs with arrows on them, and post them the night before.
Have a lot of change and be prepared for early birds.
True yard sale spenders generally bring smaller bills and they get their early in the day.
However, many come from the ATM with their $20 for your $1.00 sweater!
Also got a great tip via Facebook: Make sure to have plenty of bags. Never even thought of that. Thanks Christina!
Keep in mind the plan is to GET RID OF IT ! We all like to get a bargain so don’t be insulted in the ridiculous prices you get offered. Even if you don’t get alot of money, your life will be so much better off when you don’t have to tote it back in the house.
One more thing for next time – our neighbor put a sign out front several weeks in advance and people put it on their calendar. They had a large crowd.
Kristin, seems like you have the planning, pricing and promotion under control. That’s 90% of what you need to do to have a great sale.

The main thing is to keep it fun so NEXT time it can be even better!
Make sure each item is clean and free of dust, etc. That goes a long way for me when I am shopping or having a tag sale.
Good luck!
I made $1000 at my sale this year and $1300 last year, I am a huge garage sale fanatic:)
I would also suggest putting some flyers up around town and tell everyone you know about your sale (including your facebook friends!).
